Overview

The Guardians protect the Runebarrows in and around The Greatwood. Operating out of the village of IconMapForest.pngYarnaan, the Guardian duty is to ensure that the Barrows are not compromised by treasure hunters or forces seeking ancient powers for their own ends.

Existing since ancient times, the elves of the Greatwood held an ancient pact with the Guardians. The Archrevenant Diradhe was also familiar with the Guardians, holding enmity towards the group though he remarked that in the modern day time had robbed them of their former strength. They held a long-standing mutual hatred towards the Conclave of the Dawn, each finding the others goals in direct opposition. Guardians would deride members of the Conclave as "Masks."

Although the Guardians live as one with the forest and are opposed to exploiting the Runebarrows, they have respect for the outside world's culture and technology, and are not against integrating the parts of it that make sense to them. Guardians train in all the arts of war to better fulfill their duties. They are also tutored in the reading of runeletters. The Guardians held knowledge of routes and paths hidden to others such as the IconMapBarrows.pngEldroad.

The Guardians would align themselves with the Alliance after the Galdean Empire's designs on the Runebarrows became clear. The village of Yarnaan would fall to the Archrevenant Diradhe during the war but a Guardian-led force was able to defeat Diradhe and subsequently reclaim their home.
