Mayor's Diary

■ First Entry: As acting mayor, I have decided to keep a daily journal. New Nevaeh has been buzzing with activity lately. Tales of the Barrows on the outskirts of town are drawing hordes of merchants from everywhere. Now a scavenger called CJ has shown up. She is about my age. She wanted to head into the Barrows, but I brushed her off as usual. But at that rate, she'll be gathering her stamps in no time... I issued an explorer's license to a mercenary called Garoo for 100,000 baqua. I suppose it doesn't matter either way as long as it enriches the town. But anyone who calls me rapacious is going to see a tax hike! Anyway, there is unrest on the town borders, so I hired Master Iugo, but... he ends up getting buddy-buddy with this merchant leader Gocteau. Father, it's hard being mayor...

■ A Day of Headaches CJ and Garoo seem to be the talk of the town. They came to see me just now, and not to discuss tax rates or stamps, either. They're looking for a "magician"? Apparently they're searching for someone who can remove an obstacle in the Whitecrowns. They couldn't find Mellore, so they consulted with Gocteau. That blabbermouth Gocteau! The two seemed unperturbed despite my concerns. I accompanied them to the Whitecrowns, destroyed the obstacle, and there I saw... I'm sure that was Father, just as he was on that day... I called out to him loudly, but he left without even reacting... CJ and Garoo comforted me in my sorrow. I made my mind and have a goal now. I will join them on their quest. Father, please... call my name like you used to do.

■ Last Entry Father, I know how much you went through. With the Barrows, with Old Nevaeh, and with my body... But it's all okay now. The town and the Barrows have settled down. I have friends, and even Shiva is helping, too. Please don't worry about my body. I don't see it as a "blessing" or a "curse." I will deal with this myself. My dear friend says to me that "Treasure is something you get by looking for it!" Father, I will do my best. Although this is rather emotional for a diary entry, I will leave you with these words: Just as a new day begins with the sun rising anew, cherish the shining light...
