Hurstwine is a boss-type enemy that appears in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

A covert operative under Dux Aldric's direct command. Frequently opposes Nowa as a recurring adversary.

Kyshiri Village

He fights Nowa and his party in Kyshiri Village.

A mighty opponent, his perilous sleeping attack can easily put adventurers to sleep.

During his raid on Kyshiri Village, he is aided by Thief (Bow) and Thief (Knife).

Strategy

Though his Sleep Attack can be a nusiance, his subpar subordinates ensure that this battle should not prove too difficult for any player. After several turns, the battle will end inconclusively.

Proving Grounds

Confronted by the Alliance at the ends of the IconMapBarrows.pngProving Grounds, having had their plans to steal a Primal Lens thwarted, Narungarde and Hurstwine would put up a vicious fight against their opponents.

Strategy

While it is Narungarde, safe in the back row, who is the main damage dealer of the two, it is Hurstwine who runs interference and generally frustrates and stymies the player's efforts with his array of sleep-inducing attacks.

Despite his contant nusiance and lower health, it is recommend to target Narungarde first as her attacks are harder to resist. The other reason is that should Hurstwine fall before her, Narungarde will begin to spam Reaper's Lullaby, an attack that hits the entire player party with a high chance to inflict sleep, essentially combine the strengths of both opponents into one powerful attack.

His relatively high speed usually means he is one of the first to act, save for the player's fastest party members. His IconShort.png Short range means that he cannot target the player's back row. Once either his or Narungarde's health are below a certain level, Narungarde will cast Land's Armor, giving the duo an additional 50 Armor points.

A player party's front row would benefit from being comprised of IconMedium.png Medium range fighters so as to reach Narungarde in the back row. This front row should also have decent physical defense in order to fend off Hurstwine's constant barrage. The player's back row, meanwhile, should be bolstered with characters who can spread healing duties among themselves while dealing damage during safe turns.

Once Narungarde falls, Hurstwine can typically be overwhelmed quickly.
