Soon after the earthquakes that uncovered the Runebarrows, Hurstwine contacted Mayor Daksa of New Nevaeh. acting as a representative of the Galdean Empire wanting to purchase exclusive access to the Runebarrows.

During the events of Rising, Hurstwine makes his way into the area around New Nevaeh with a group of imperial soldiers posing as lens bandits, waiting for their opportunity to strike.

Behind the scenes, Hurstwine threatened Garoo's sick daughter in exchange for his help in locating and stealing the humongous lens. However, Garoo turned on Hurstwine and together with CJ and Isha, Hurstwine and his men were repelled, forcing him to retreat.

Hurstwine failed to retrieve the Primal Lens, resulting in its destruction. He reported his failure to his superior; a mysterious person going only by the title Mighty Dux.
