History

Squash Hmm, well! See this cut here? Classic protomonarchist feature. And this lovely curvature here at the shoulder? Oh yes, worth a hefty sum, I'd say. And it's so SHINY!

Squash is an ornitha beastyn who makes his trade in accessories. He claims to be a fine judge of his wares, easily capable of sorting the treasures from the trinkets, but at times one can't help but think that "shiny object" is his sole criterion, judging from his selection criteria.

Squash moved to New Nevaeh, seeing the promise of a glimmering future there, opening an accessory shop. Working as the Authorized Appraiser of New Nevaeh, he appraised the value of goods so that Isha's 30% tax could be levied on explorers, a fee he agreed was rapacious.

He would later enlist CJ's aid in gathering materials to open his Accessory Shop proper and from there was able both to make and sell accessories for the explorers of the town.

Design

From artist Junko Kawano, "In Eiyuden, the characters' expressions vary based on their dialogue, so we no longer have to rack our brains finding the perfect expression that'll fit in any kind of circumstance—whether it be a comedic scene or a near-death situation.

That being said, we're trying to make sure he has just the right amount of character and emotion for this particular situation—but that alone is already enough cause for me to break down and scream. Lol.

I've been trying to come up with facial expressions for this character, Squash, and most of my time is spent wailing in front of a mirror.

But don't worry—I'll keep churning away at it!

B'baba's Divination

Squash's Calling
Squash used to be a famous appraiser, but he packed up in disgust to travel after one too many requests for a falsified appraisal. He considers it his calling to right the perceived value of those things everyone else over- or underrates.

On to New Nevaeh
In his travels, he heard of Isha and went to New Nevaeh to appraise her worth. There, he found that, despite her first impressions, she was a good mayor, dedicated to her town and her father. He decided to settle there.

Night-Blind Blunder
Squash's night vision is hopeless. Despite being aware of this, he once put himself in danger of freezing to death following something shiny at night. A passing merchant saved his life, and since then, he has a mild phobia of the nighttime.
