Shekhinah is a character in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. They are a sorcerer of legend said to have been involved in arcane rune-lens research.

History

According to legend, the sorcerer Shekinah was trapped within the Runebarrows over 300 years ago. Shiva attributed the increase in monsters around New Nevaeh to be the result of the sorcerer being unleashed from his seal by the same earthquakes that uncovered the Barrows.

While investigating the Barrows, CJ, Garoo, and Isha were able to uncover several holographic records of the sorcerer's research. He had hoped to use a large rune-lens to achieve a transmutation project. Eventually, the sorcerer could use this power to create raw lenses using the magical power of a life form, ending its life in the process. Frustrated that this mostly resulted in small, weak lenses, the sorcerer turned to the town of Old Nevaeh in order to mass produce lens in their bodies in the hopes of finding a subject powerful enough to create a remarkable lens.

The people of Nevaeh would eventually rise up against the sorcerer, sealing him in the Runebarrows. However, the sigil he used to perform his transmutations continued regardless, manifesting in what would become known as the Barrow's Blessing. After he was unsealed by the earthquakes, the unsealed sorcerer was able to kill and take over the body of Daksa when the mayor's party investigated the ruins. Following this, he continued his experiments. He hoped to use the sigil and humongous lens to perform his transmutation on the entirety of New Nevaeh. His apparent goal was to use this power to uncover the truth of the Runebarrows.

Confronted in the depths of the Barrows, the sorcerer would try to use his possession of Daksa to manipulate Isha only to be attacked. Free from physical constraints and able to harvest the souls of his victims, the sorcerer transformed into a large shadowy beast, able to summon the shambling remains of his victims to protect himself. Still, the sorcerer was eventually defeated and he recognized his end, content that the sigil would continue its work. Even that proved to be untrue however with the destruction of the humongous lens powering it.
