Michiko Naruke (成毛美智子, Naruke Michiko, born August 13, 1967) is a freelance video game composer, arranger, and lyricist who is working on music for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Production History

Naruke initially worked as a composer for Telenet Japan and Riot. She was in charge of composing the ending song for Legion (a shooting game for the TurboGrafx-CD), Tenshi no Uta, and Tenshi no Uta II: Datenshi no Sentaku. After composing Tenshi no Uta II, she left Telenet, and became a freelance musician. After that, Naruke slowly lost her enthusiasm and was planning to quietly retire.

However, after being scouted by Kaneko Akifumi, Naruke was placed in charge of composing music for the Wild ARMs series, beginning with 1996's Wild ARMs on the Sony PlayStation. Her work has since been defined by the series, composing over 400 songs for the Wild ARMs series over the years. However, during the development of Wild ARMs 4, Naruke fell ill, marking the first time in the Wild ARMs series that she did not compose the entire soundtrack.

Since the Wild ARMs series, Naruke has been writing, composing, and arranging music for other works such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road, as well as developing the self-produced "Feedback" series of albums since 2013. On September 13, 2013, she held a concert Playing Naruke Works! featuring her own music.

On August 27, 2020, it was announced that Naruke would be contributing to the soundtrack for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. She was said to have been scouted by the team as her musical talents had broad appeal, being able to take cues from any number of cultures.

Her favorite sequencer is the Logic Pro 9. In an interview for Wild ARMs: Piece of Tears, Naruke revealed items which she values, including her keyboard and rhythm machine, a pamphlet of Jerry Goldsmith, a figure of Kurokishi from Gingaman, an original score of Bach, and a memorial vinyl disc.
