Hollow Plant
The Hollow Plant is a boss enemy in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. It is encountered in the Great Forest's Great Tree Glade. It is a mandatory boss fight for Main Quest 3: Old Shiva's Clock Tower and can be fought by the player in the same location thereafter.
Strategy
The Hollow Plant attacks by extending its roots through the ground, like spears. Red vertical rays will appear in spots where these roots will protrude so it is important to stand off to the side of these points.
After avoiding several of these attacks, a large worm will appear from the mouth of the Hollow Plant. This is its weak point and attacking it will quickly whittle down the boss' health, bypassing its shield. However, this worm will also attack, so the player must be alert and jump over its projectile while attacking.
Defeating the Hollow Plant for the first time earns the player a Rune Fragment, the Great Tree Bough, and unlocks the achievement 'All Bark, No Bite'.
Subsequent Battles
Fighting the Hollow Plant again will introduce an additional mechanic; a spider that will throw a ball of webbing at the player. This webbing can be attacked, removing it. The bug itself can also be struck down. Once the player reaches Main Quest 11: On the Other Side..., the Hollow Plant will gain 10 levels, being fought at level 15. At Main Quest 29: After the Truth!, the Hollow Plant will gain an additional 15 levels, being fought at level 30.
On Hard Mode, the Hollow Plant will be fought at level 55. Two bugs will now also appear to hinder the player with their balls of webbing. Defeating this version of the Hollow Plant unlocks the achievement 'Champion of the Great Forest'.
