History

|
Garoo is a veteran beastman ex-mercenary who came to New Nevaeh in search of treasure in the ancient ruins there. A fierce fighter who has come through many life-threatening situations with only his skill, he trusts only the coin in his purse and the sword in his hand. He carries his sword and other possessions in his magic pouch, which he says he got "from some old blue furball". He was the only adventurer who paid the 100,000 baqua to obtain an explorer's license without complaint.
Garoo first met CJ in the Great Forest while examining a crumbling pillar there but the two did not become properly acquainted until he came to Tatara's Smithy. Hogan would introduce him as a mercenary from his home town, something Garoo would downplay. Hogan would eventually convince Garoo to work alongside CJ. Although the two often clashed due to CJ's naivety and Garoo's more cynical approach, the two worked well together. In the Quarry, it was Garoo who talked Mellore into returning to New Nevaeh and apologizing for damaging the town's bulwark.
After defeating the Lode Golem there, Garoo was excited by the value of the raw lens found there (roughly 200,000 baqua) but also concerned about the type of person who'd desire to own such a potentially powerful artifact. He would continue to travel with CJ, ostensibly to fill his pouch with treasure. His surprising way with words helped Mellore and Isha both through difficult times as their explorations of the Runebarrows intensified.
When a large band of lens bandits were found in the Great Forest, Garoo was able to convince them to leave. He would claim that he convinced them Isha had called for frontier reinforcements which were rapidly approaching. Iugo seemed to find Garoo's actions suspicious but found his fears allayed by Garoo's excitement at the possibility of introducing healing baths to New Nevaeh.
After eventually finding the location of the humungous lens within the depths of the Runebarrows, the group would be confronted by the lens bandits, led by Hurstwine. There, it was revealed that Garoo was working with Hurstwine to obtain the lens for the Galdean Empire in exchange for helping to cure his daughter Allaby's terminal disease. Unwilling to betray his comrades, Hurstwine threatened to kill Allaby if Garoo didn't cooperate but the beastman stood his ground, fighting the Imperial off.
Following the defeat of Shekhinah, Garoo left New Nevaeh immediately afterwards to find his daughter and bring her to New Nevaeh in the hopes that the baths could alleviate her illness enough to enjoy whatever time she had left.
Gameplay
Garoo joins the party at Lv. 6 or CJ's current level, whichever is higher.
