Plot Overview

Rising's story centers around the heroes' treasure hunting while aiding in reconstructing a suffering settlement (the town of New Nevaeh) damaged by earthquakes. Conflict between those who wish to explore the ruins, the residents, those who don't want the ruins explored, and the character's motivations drive the story forward. The story focuses around three playable characters, the beastman Garoo, the scavenger CJ, and the acting mayor Isha.

Also, a secret within the ruins is deeply related to the fate of one of the characters. What lies in these ruins will fuel a conspiracy that will shake the world, and tie into the main story of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Development

On August 29, 2020, close to the end of the initial Kickstarter campaign, Rabbit & Bear Studios announced their intention to partner with Natsume-Atari to create an Town Creation RPG. This companion title is intended to be released before Eiyuden Chronicle itself.

It is planned for the two games to share assets with Natsume-Atari focusing on Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising so as not to sap resources from the development of Eiyuden Chronicle itself. The game was initially referred to simply as "Town Creation RPG", "the companion game", and its original Kickstarter reward tier "A Quiet Place".

The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at E3 2021, on June 13, 2021, showed the first footage of the game and confirmed the name of the game as Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and that it would be a day one Game Pass game, with a projected release date some time in 2022. 505 Games would later release an English language trailer, giving a projected release date of Spring 2022.

This was later pushed back to Summer 2022. A 28-minute gameplay video was uploaded by 505 Games in conjunction with IGN on March 14, 2022. Around the same time, a limited preview beta was sent to a limited number of publications and influencers. In the March 23, 2022 Kickstarter update Yoshitaka Murayama indicated that Rising had entered its final stages of development.

On April 12, the Eiyuden Twitter account would announce a May 10, 2022 release date for Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising on all platforms worldwide. On September 16, 2022, at the 505 Games panel at the Tokyo Games Show, it was announced that Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising would be receiving a limited physical release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in Japan on January 26, 2023.
