Code L is a character in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Code L is an obsessive rune-lens expert. He was first revealed in the May 2021 Kickstarter update.

History

Code L Hmm...? Uh...can I help you? OH! You're here to talk LENSES?! Well, ha! Which one of my little goddesses can I tell you about today?

A young man with an unhealthy obsession with rune-lenses. His glasses are fitted with a miniature rune-lens, and he has a slight stoop despite his tall, skinny build.

Code L usually speaks slowly and softly, but bring up rune-lenses and he'll talk anyone's ear off, He knows a great deal about them but tends to recommend the rare and unwieldy ones. His dream is to invent an artificial rune-lens. In some ways, his research there surpasses the Galdean Empire's.

Design

According to character designer Junko Kawano, he was envisioned as a tall, nerdy, bespectacled youth who slouches a lot. His design was almost too cheery however, when Kawano added the small lenses to his design, giving him the right balance she was looking for.

B'baba's Divination

All That Glitters
Code L was always taken by glittery things. Kids made fun of him, calling him a magpie, but he never stopped collecting sparklestones and glass. He stored them away in a treasure chest and kept them with great care. His world changed the day he learned of rune-lenses.

Taken by Rune-Lens
When he learned of rune-lenses, Code L was determined to get one for himself. He saved up to buy one and studied it all day and night, never stopping to eat or sleep. When his research paper was accepted, he was so overjoyed he went on a three-day bender.

Whatever It Takes
Code L is always pressing deeper into the Barrows to find a rune-lens himself. He believes research must be carried out with one's own hands. He's faced mortal peril more than once, but it hasn't dulled his passion for the rune-lens—his muse, in a sense.
